Japanese commercials have a charming way of being able to be quite direct about things that are usually only alluded to in American commercials. Take for example Delicare M’s (delicate care for men), a topical cream for men with itchy groin areas.

In the summer your groin gets itchy.
The video says it all, with the first one beginning with three men exclaiming that “My…groin…itches!”.
I have a hard time imagining a similar commercial back in the States, unless it’s endorsed by Alec Baldwin.

Hmm.. there’s already a commercial out in the U.S. that talks about loose bladder and medication that can stop it. Hmm… I think the only cm that talks about men’s crotch is viagra. >_<
It amazes me how so many oyajis in the office love to talk about their itchy balls and dick rashes here. Same guys that sit at their desks picking their noses all day.
Overseas, the equivalent commercial would show a beautiful couple frolicing in a meadow, walking on a stormy beach and cuddling warm at home, and would look like any other generic medical product ad. They all look the same to me, and I can never guess what they are for.
Strange, when you think about it, considering the Japanese are so famous for being NOT direct when it comes to any situation with conflict, or possible “discomfort” or loss of face. I guess they figure go the most obvious route because it’s funny…..?!
Nowhere but Japan could produce this kind of hilarious — but terrible — TV commercial.
Unbelievable. Cheesy, silly, hilarious. But strangely makes me want to try the product…
God that song’s catchy…Kikuu~~~
at lease they got the balls to do this cm…
I want that product!
